Michael Quantrell

Michael Quantrell is an accomplished Captain with over 20 years of experience in yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed multimillion-dollar yacht refits and overseen numerous deliveries along the East Coast. His strong leadership and steady approach have guided him through challenging situations, including navigating the dangerous conditions of Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017.

His passion for the water began during his childhood in Camden, Maine, where he spent much of his time either sailing or skiing. At a young age, Michael earned three medals at the Junior Olympics, including a bronze and a silver in the Laser Class Division. His dedication to sailing took him to professional racing programs in New Zealand, New England, and England. In high school, he was a skilled skier and continued to compete for ten years in Friday night lights skiing events in Maine. Even after relocating to Florida, he remained active in competition, winning all three qualifiers in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge and earning victories in other smaller events.

At 18, he began his professional career as a yacht Captain, managing vessels between 20 and 120 feet and captaining yachts up to 112 feet, with his most recent work on a 100-foot ship. Quantrell has overseen extensive refit projects, turning yachts into refined, fully operational vessels. His experience includes delivering yachts from Mexico and across the United States, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the East Coast. For nearly five years, he has owned Ox Eye Marine Corporation, managing multiple yachts from 40 to 112 feet along the Eastern Seaboard, throughout the Bahamas, and across the Caribbean. His company provides full-service vessel management, including project oversight, crew placement, systems analysis, refits, overseas shipping, sales, and participation in boat shows.

His notable roles include captaining a 96’ Broward for 18 months, overseeing a $300k refit, managing crew operations, ensuring compliance, and coordinating travel arrangements. Michael also served as Captain for a 90’ Offshore for two years, leading a multimillion-dollar refinance and refit that restored the vessel to peak condition. Additional work includes delivery operations for a 112’ Westport, estate and yacht management in Palm Beach, and work on other vessels such as a 59’ Herreshoff, where he managed racing operations and crew training.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys time on the water, caring for his dogs, and spending time with family. Michael Quantrell continues to approach each vessel and project with skill, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.
